MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2021

Hey everyone! The end of the year is here and that means we are about to begin another year full of new releases and stories to discover.

I’ve given a look to some of the book releases scheduled for the year 2021, and I want to share with you 11 books that caught my eye and made me extremely excited for the release date to get here already!

11 – These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan

This book’s synopsis is just perfect for me. I am absolutely psyched to read this. Apparently perfect for fans of ACOTAR and Cruel Prince… COUNT.ME.IN!! This was one of my most anticipated ones but went down in the list due to what seems to be a love triangle, you know how much I hate those…. but I’ll probably still read it once I have spoilers.

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: July 20th, 2021

From New York Times best-selling author Lexi Ryan, Cruel Prince meets A Court of Thorns and Roses in this sexy, action-packed fantasy about a girl who is caught between two treacherous faerie courts and their dangerously seductive princes.

Brie hates the Fae and refuses to have anything to do with them, even if that means starving on the street. But when her sister is sold to the sadistic king of the Unseelie court to pay a debt, she’ll do whatever it takes to get her back—including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the Seelie court.

Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie’s only choice is to pose as a potential bride for Prince Ronan, and she soon finds herself falling for him. Unwilling to let her heart distract her, she accepts help from a band of Unseelie misfits with their own secret agenda. As Brie spends time with their mysterious leader, Finn, she struggles to resist his seductive charm.

Caught between two dangerous courts, Brie must decide who to trust with her loyalty. And with her heart.

10 – The Descent of the Drowned by Ana Lal Din

This book sounds awesome. I don’t really know much beyond the synopsis but look at the beautiful cover! I have a very good feeling about it!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: March 15th, 2021

She is bound to serve. He is meant to kill. Survival is their prison. Choice is their weapon.

As the sacred slave of a goddess, Roma is of a lower caste that serves patrons to sustain the balance between gods and men. What she wants is her freedom, but deserters are hunted and hanged, and Roma only knows how to survive in her village where women are vessels without a voice. When her younger brother is condemned to the same wretched fate as hers, Roma must choose between silence and rebellion.

Leviathan is the bastard son of an immortal tyrant. Raised in a military city where everyone knows of his blood relation to the persecuted clans, Leviathan is considered casteless. Lowest of the low. Graduating as one of the deadliest soldiers, he executes in his father’s name, displaying his worth. When he faces judgement from his mother’s people—the clans—Leviathan must confront his demons and forge his own path, if he ever hopes to reclaim his soul.

But in the struggle to protect the people they love and rebuild their identities, Roma’s and Leviathan’s destinies interlock as the tyrant hunts an ancient treasure that will doom humankind should it come into his possession—a living treasure to which Roma and Leviathan are the ultimate key.

Set in a colonised Indo-Persian world and inspired by pre-Islamic Arabian mythology, The Descent of the Drowned is a tale about power, identity, and redemption, and what it takes to hold on to one’s humanity in the face of devastation.

9 – The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary

This book has many romance tropes that seem to be of my liking, and is set in a road trip to Scotland! (If you know anything about me, you know of my Scotland obsession) I can’t wait for it and I hope it doesn’t dissapoint.

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: April 29th, 2021

Addie and her sister are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend’s wedding in the north of Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are packed.

But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie’s ex, Dylan, who she’s avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.

Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too, and they’ve totalled their car, so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride. The car is soon jam-packed full of luggage and secrets, and with three hundred miles ahead of them, Dylan and Addie can’t avoid confronting the very messy history of their relationship…

Will they make it to the wedding on time? And, more importantly… is this really the end of the road for Addie and Dylan?

8 – LORE by Alexandra Bracken

Greek Mythology by the wonderful Alexandra Bracken, one of my favorite people in the world? That was all I needed to know for me to need to read this book! And it is about to come out so the waiting is over!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: January 5th, 2021

From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love and redemption.

Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals, hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.

Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world in the wake of her family’s sadistic murder by a rival line, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory. For years she’s pushed away any thought of revenge against the man–now a god–responsible for their deaths.

Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek out her help: Castor, a childhood friend of Lore believed long dead, and a gravely wounded Athena, among the last of the original gods.

The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and, at last, a way for Lore to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore’s decision to bind her fate to Athena’s and rejoin the hunt will come at a deadly cost–and still may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.

8 – Neon Gods by Katee Robert

This book seems to be a steamy Hades and Persephone book, the first in a romance series all about the Greek Gods…. um, yes, please!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: June 1st, 2021

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou wants nothing to do with her mother’s ambitions. She’s biding her time until she’s able to leave the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start her doctorate degree. The one thing she never planned on? Her mother ambushing her with an engagement to Zeus—a man with more than a few dead wives in his past. Persephone will do anything to escape that fate…even flee the sparkling upper city and make a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed was a myth.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. Not even for the woman who flees into his territory as if the very hounds of hell are on her heels. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he’s spent his entire life craving? It’s all the excuse he needs to agree to help her—for a price. She’ll be his for the summer, and then he’ll see her safely out of Olympus and away from her mother and Zeus.

Hades and Persephone’s deal might seem simple enough, but they both quickly realize it’s anything but. With every breathless night spent with Hades, Persephone wonders at her ability to leave him behind. And Hades? Now that he has a taste for Persephone, he’s willing to go to war with Olympus itself to keep her…

6 – The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This book is the third in the Blood and Ash series by my absolute favorite author Jennifer L. Armentrout. While it is not as prioritized in my top of the year as it should be (due to sad issues with the fandom and them sucking out a lot of my excitement for the story), I truly truly loved the story and I AM SO EXCITED for when I get this ARC!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: April 20th, 2021

And now she will become Queen…

5 – We are the Fire by Sam Taylor

This book seems to be a fantasy aventure with the friends from childhood trope (Absolute fave of mine), and… just read that synopsis! It sounds awesome. Beautiful cover too. I loved Ember in the Ashes as well and if I am to trust that this book is perfect for fans of it, then count me in!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: February 16th, 2021

As electrifying as it is heartbreaking, Sam Taylor’s explosive fantasy debut We Are the Fire is perfect for fans of An Ember in the Ashes and the legend of Spartacus.

In the cold, treacherous land of Vesimaa, children are stolen from their families by a cruel emperor, forced to undergo a horrific transformative procedure, and serve in the army as magical fire-wielding soldiers. Pran and Oksana―both taken from their homeland at a young age―only have each other to hold onto in this heartless place.

Pran dreams of one day rebelling against their oppressors and destroying the empire; Oksana only dreams of returning home and creating a peaceful life for them both.

When they discover the emperor has a new, more terrible mission than ever for their kind, Pran and Oksana vow to escape his tyranny once and for all. But their methods and ideals differ drastically, driving a wedge between them. Worse still, they both soon find that the only way to defeat the monsters that subjugated them may be to become monsters themselves.

4 – A Vow so Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer

To be completely honest, I have not yet read the second book in this trilogy but believe me, I am absolutely dying to! And I have been waiting for the third so that I could read them both in a row. A Curse so dark and lonely was one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I have complete trust in Brigid to end it perfectly. I finally found my Beauty and the Beast Retelling!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: January 26th, 2021

But after enjoying decades of peace once magic was driven out of their lands, some of her subjects are angry Lia Mara has an enchanted prince and magical scraver by her side. As Grey’s deadline draws nearer, Lia Mara questions if she can be the queen her country needs.

As two kingdoms come closer to conflict, loyalties are tested, love is threatened, and an old enemy resurfaces who could destroy them all, in this stunning conclusion to bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer’s Cursebreaker series.

3- A Dragonbird in the Fern by Lexi Ryan

From the synopsis I gather that it’s a forced arranged marriage in a fantasy world with royalty, a protagonist with learning disability and an assasination mistery to uncover…. WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE? I am so here for this based on the synopsis alone. And if there are dragons (look at the cover and the name)… then I cannot tell you how much I will love this book.

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out August 3rd, 2021

When an assassin kills Princess Jiara’s older sister Scilla, her vengeful ghost is doomed to walk their city of glittering canals, tormenting loved ones until the murderer is brought to justice. While the entire kingdom mourns, Scilla’s betrothed arrives and requests that seventeen-year-old Jiara take her sister’s place as his bride to confirm the alliance between their countries.

Marrying the young king intended for her sister and traveling to his distant home is distressing enough, but with dyslexia and years of scholarly struggles, Jiara abandoned any hope of learning other languages long ago. She’s terrified of life in a foreign land where she’ll be unable to communicate.

Then Jiara discovers evidence that her sister’s assassin comes from the king’s own country. If she marries the king, Jiara can hunt the murderer and release her family from Scilla’s ghost, whose thirst for blood mounts every day. To save her family, Jiara must find her sister’s killer . . . before he murders her too.

2- Legacy by Hanna McBride

Book two of Sanctum comes out next week on January 8th! And the third and final book comes out a bit later in the year! I am already reading it and I am pretty sure it will be my favorite in the series. So, I cannot wait for its release!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: Spring 2021

The final book in Skye & Remy’s story.

Synopsis to come.

1- Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This trilogy is, in my personal opinion, the best Jen has written. I love absolutely everything about it. And after the rollercoaster that was Rage and Ruin, my most anticipated book for the whole year is definitely the conclusion of the story. I am so so hyped for it!

Goodreads | Amazon | Comes out: June 1st, 2021

When Angels Fall

Trinity Marrow has lost the battle and her beloved Protector. Even with both demons and Wardens on her side, Trin may not win the war against the Harbinger.

Bringing Lucifer back to the world to fight the Harbinger is probably a really, really bad idea, but they’re out of options—and the world’s ultimate fallen angel is the only being powerful enough to impact the outcome.

As Trin and Zayne form a new and more dangerous bond and Lucifer unleashes Hell on earth, the apocalypse looms and the world teeters on the end of forever. Win or lose, one thing is certain—nothing will ever be the same.

And done! Did any of these catch your eye? Which one?!

And please let me know if you have any anticipated releases for 2021 that are not on this list!

Happy New Year everybody! Here’s to a year of amazing reads and incredible book boyfriends!
